My role
Art Direction, Visual design and UI/UX design

Agency
MRM London

At MRM London, I led the visual and UI/UX design for a pro bono project with SaferLondon. They are a charitable organisation that supports young Londoners, their families, peers, and communities affected by violence and exploitation.

Our goal was to create a website that would empower SaferLondon’s audience to make positive life changes by providing an intuitive user experience and easy access to vital information.

The Challenge

SaferLondon’s previous website was outdated and not meeting the needs of its audience. Our redesign needed to be relatable, responsive, and provide a better user experience. Since this was a pro-bono project, we needed to ensure the redesign was cost-effective and timely.

Empathising with the audience

Although we had scope limitations, we worked closely with SaferLondon’s client stakeholders to identify the audience and create critical personas. We discovered that SaferLondon’s audience faced a range of challenges, from trauma recovery to finding housing and employment. This helped us to empathise with the audience and understand their unique needs.

The Solution

Our design centres around empowering urban imagery that resonates with the audience, which we did through double exposures and silhouettes of people. The clean, organised, responsive layout ensures easy navigation and optimal viewing across devices.

By crafting a ‘Real Stories’ section, we not only shed light on the powerful impact of Safer London but also give a voice to the individuals whose lives have been transformed through their efforts.

To streamline maintenance, we built the site on WordPress because it is a budget-friendly option with a large user base for the client team’s convenience.
